On November 3, 2023, Mr. Ye Anping, Director of South-South and Triangular Cooperation Division (PST), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) visited Biogas Institute of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (BIOMA). Mr. Wang Dengshan, Director General of BIOMA attended the meeting online and exchanged views on how the Institute could better leverage its role as a reference center for agriculture and promote cooperation between South-South and Triangular partners. Mr. Zhang Yahui, Senior Coordinator of PST, FAO, attended the meeting.
Mr. Wang Dengshan extended a warm welcome to the Delegation. He introduced BIOMA’s efforts and achievements in exploring research fields, engaging in technical support, and particularly highlighted the achievements of international cooperation projects. He emphasized the necessity of extensive and in-depth South-South technical cooperation guided by industrial development and various demands.
Dr. He Mingxiong, Deputy Director General of BIOMA chaired the meeting and presented the Institute’s disciplinary system, research achievements, innovative directions, and the overview of international cooperation. He reviewed the Institute’s cooperation methods with FAO as one of its reference centers and expressed willingness to explore and leverage potential professional strengths for deeply engaging in agricultural technology cooperation projects within the framework of South-South and Triangular cooperation.
Director Ye affirmed the active role played by the Institute in technological research and industry support. He encouraged the Institute to expand its professional development while conducting publicity, highlighting strengths, summarizing experiences, cultivating talents, integrating models, and enhancing cooperation based on demand to better fulfill its role as a reference center.
Senior Coordinator Zhang appreciated the Institute’s efforts in research, training, and cooperation. He hoped that, while continuing international training and cooperation, the Institute would expand partnership relations. He suggested selecting and promoting “small-yet-smart” projects tailored to the needs of small farmers and rural areas in developing countries, aligning with local conditions and development goals, in line with the idea of promoting sustainable development through South-South and Triangular cooperation.
After the meeting, the delegation visited Key Laboratory of Development and Application of Rural Renewable Energy, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
